Liquid Inspiration: El Lúpolo

Imbibe during a relaxed session of line editing.

This combination of flavors is magical. I've had multiple guests I served this to assume it was a grapefruit juice drink or a Paloma! Somehow, the sour lime and citrus notes of the hoppy beer entice a grapefruit taste from the concoction.

  • 1.5 oz. Camarena Silver Tequila

  • 0.5 oz. Campari

  • 0.5 oz. lime juice

  • 0.5 oz. simple syrup

  • Shake with ice and top with 2 oz. Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze IPA

My recommendation is to bottle a large batch of the other ingredients and hold off on adding the IPA until serving. Remember, a 12 oz can will service six drinks. Keep in mind, though, you can adjust the amount of beer, lime, and syrup to taste. Shift the sweet, sour, and bitter to your pleasing.

While the Voodoo Ranger was a tremendous success, any IPA should fit the template. In fact, I eagerly plan to experiment with as many bitter beers as I can find!

Everyone I made this drink for loved it. One person exclaimed, 'Finally, a Campari drink I can enjoy!'
